20th November 2009 Pass the Torch Project Continues |
| If you were out and about in Failsworth on 6th November, you might have seen a few unusual sights!
Salton Europe were taking part in the Pass the Torch project, walking for a mile around their building in Failsworth in fancy dress. Two teddy bears, a sumo wrestler, and an inflatable horse were amongst the party that set off on the Friday lunchtime. The group walked armed with collection buckets, and passers-by were extremely generous, as were staff and customers at the Millgate pub. These donations, along with the sponsorship raised by the walkers, fundraising breakfasts, and a generous donation of £500 from Salton, enabled the group to raise a fantastic £1301.94! Allegra, our Community Fundraiser, took part in a pink tutu and sparkly blue wig, and thoroughly enjoyed the event. Allegra said: “Salton have given us such enthusiastic support, and the staff have been thoroughly committed to raising as much money as possible! We are so grateful for all their efforts, and are looking forward to seeing what they come up with next!” Jill Fullalove from Salton, who organised the event, said: “It was great fun, and everyone really enjoyed the day. We are so pleased to have raised so much money to support an important local charity.” The Pass the Torch project has so far raised £2223.52 for the hospice. The torch now moves on to the Rose of Lancaster, who will be holding a range of events throughout December. Click here to view pictures from the Salton Europe event in our online photo album.
